DELHI:EROS TIMES: The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi today awarded the renowned Urdu Scholars and Writers for their contribution towards Urdu Literature & Language in a function organized by Urdu Academy at Delhi Secretariat.
Minister of Environment, Govt. of Delhi, Imran Hussain & Minister of SC-ST Welfare, Govt. of Delhi, Rajendra Pal Gautam jointly distributed the prizes to Urdu Scholars for writing Urdu books for the year 2016-17 and 2017-18. The writers of Urdu were awarded with cash prizes worth Rs. 10000/- and Rs. 7500/- each respectively, mementos and citations (list of writers / awardees, with their creations attached).
The ex vice chancellor , Jamia Millia Islamia, Sahid Mehdi presided over the function, while Vice –Chairman , Urdu Academy, Shehpar Rasool and Secretary, Urdu Academy, S. M. Ali were also present on this occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Imran Hussain appealed the Urdu writers to create more and more Urdu Literature giving message to the readers to preserve and inculcate the feelings of Communal harmony, Brotherhood and Patriotism.
He congratulated the writers and said that it is the writers and thinkers, who ensure change and bring inqlab in the society through their creative writings with the “power of their Pen”.
Rajendra Pal Gautam said that Delhi Govt. is commuted to promote different languages of the country for which the Govt. is determined to establish various Languages Academies. He also congratulated the Scholars and Writers for their creations.
Urdu Academy, Delhi since its inception in May, 1981, has been conducting various Educational, Cultural and Literary Activities for the promotion, propagation and development of Urdu language, literature and composite lingual culture.
Urdu Academy has been honouring every year renowned Urdu Scholars, Writers and other literary personalities for their contributions for the promotion, propagation and development of Urdu language, since 1982.
Vice Chairman of Urdu Academy, Sahpal Rashul presented a detailed plan for promotion of Urdu Language and various activities undertaken by Urdu Academy.
