NEW DELHI:EROS TIMES: Recognizing the invaluable contribution of teachers in shaping India’s future, the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal felicitated the teachers for excellence and conferred the prestigious “State Teachers Award, 2018” to the 91 teachers on the occasion of celebration of “Teachers Day” in a glittering ceremony organised at Thyagraj Stadium in New Delhi.
The Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, Manish Sisodia presided over the function.
Kejriwal and Sisodia awarded the teachers with shawl, medals, citation and bunch of flowers and cheque of worth Rs. 25000/- each and congratulated them for their distinguished and invaluable services for shaping our future.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that teachers are the torch bearers and treasure of knowledge. They shape and carve the future of the nation as they sow the seeds of knowledge in the children and grow them as the true and knowledgeable citizens of the country.
Kejriwal, appreciating the role of the teachers, said that the entire Delhi is proud of them as they proved their mettle in transforming the entire Education system of education in the guidance and leadership of Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister, Manish Sisodia, further implementing the best of best education programmes such as “Mission Buniyad”, “Happiness Curriculum”, etc.
The Chief Minister exhorted the teachers to create feelings of patriotism and nationality in the children.
As the same time Dy. Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia appealed the teachers to encourage the students for nation building and further to create curiosity about the polity of the nation in them.
At the start of the ceremony, Kejriwal lit the lamp and remembered the former President of India Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishanan, a great visionary and a novel teacher, whose birthday is celebrated in the entire nation on 5th-September every year in the form of “teachers day”.
The 91 teachers who were felicitated included 15 Head of Schools, 26 School Teachers, 12 teachers from RPVV, 8 teachers from miscellaneous category, 01 Assist. Teacher, 01 librarian, 05 teachers from North MCD, 04 teachers from South MCD, 03 teachers from East MCD, 13 teachers from sports, 02 special awardees (01 Asst. teacher & 01 Vice Principal) and 01 National awardee. Further this number of awardees included 62 Government teachers, 13 Private
School teachers, 02 Added School teachers (01 teacher plus 01sports teacher), 12 MCD teachers plus 01 MCD sports teacher.
This year too, the compereing for the whole teachers award ceremony was done by the children themselves –showing their standard and confidence, what they learnt.
The grand ceremony was witnessed with heart-warming performance by Indian Ocean Band and performance showcased by the School students. The overwhelming cultural performance continued to reverberate and fill the stadium with music as the school children presented their programme, which captured the heart of multitudes present in the stadium.
