New Delhi:EROS TIMES: Minister of Labour and Employment and Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi convenor, Gopal Rai visited a relief camp set up by Delhi Government at Mustafabad in the riot-hit North East Delhi on Monday. The relief camp can accommodate 1000 affected people and equip them with food, water, medicines, and toilets.
A helpdesk to facilitate filling of forms for compensation for losses in the riots have also been set up along with the relief camp.
“In the recent riots, many people became victims and the Delhi government has taken steps to provide them relief assistance. As demanded by the people, we have set up this relief camp in Mustafabad since the families here have to accommodate 20-30 people affected by the riots.
Facilities for food, water, and medicine and toilets have been arranged in this camp with a capacity for 1000 people. Along with this camp, we set up a center to get the forms filled for compensation for the victims.
The riot-affected shall come to the center and avail of this service. If required we will set up more relief camps in other affected areas too so that the trouble for people can be reduced”, said Gopal Rai.
“To ensure the proper functioning of the relief camp, the local MLA and the members of the Waqf Board are present here. The Aam Aadmi Party volunteers are also assisting the relief work.
AAP volunteers from Burari, Timarpur, and karawal Nagar are undertaking relief work in Karawal Nagar, while the volunteers from Rohtas Nagar, Seema Puri, Gokulpur in Gokulpur.
Volunteers from Seelampur, Babarpur and Mustafabad are working in Mustafabad while volunteers from Gonda assisting the relief works in Gonda ”, said Gopal Rai.
“We had talked to MLAs of Seelampur and Mustafabad and understood that police have picked innocent people also.
Their relatives are running here and there in hospitals and police stations looking for them. We expect that this issue may be sorted out immediately.
We want the guilty must be caught and punished at the same time the innocent shall be spared.
A meeting has been scheduled with the Police Commissioner at 06:00 pm today and this issue will be discussed.
There are some people spreading rumors to create fear among the public.
The ways to dissolve fear and anxiety due to the spread of misinformation will also be discussed with the Commissioner of Police”, Shri Rai added.
“Now the SDMs and other officials are working in the affected areas to assess the loss due to the damage of houses and shops. In the hospitals also, filling forms for compensation is facilitated and I witnessed the same in the GTB Hospital yesterday.
For those who can’t go out of their houses, NGOs, Civil Defence Volunteers are visiting them at their doorstep.
Also, the SDMs visit the victims’ houses in the assigned sectors. We ensure that assistance in all respects reaches the victims wherever they are at present.
First, the affected people required to fill the forms and later the officials from the offices of SDM and PWD will verify the documents.
