Delhi:EROS TIMES: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inspected the first Mohalla Clinic opened by the Delhi government in a posh upper middle class colony in Greater Kailash I on Wednesday.
He met with several patients and the clinic staff during his inspection and enquired about the level of satisfaction of the people with the facilities being provided at the Mohalla Clinic.
The MLA of Greater Kailash Saurabh Bharadwaj was also accompanying CM Kejriwal during this visit.
The Chief Minister met several patients on his visit to the Mohalla Clinic situated at Hemkunt Colony, Greater Kailash I, next to the Guru Harkishan Public School. He asked them if they were satisfied with the facilities and the quality of services in the clinic.
All patients in the waiting area were from the neighbourhood. Their feedback to CM Kejriwal was overwhelmingly positive. “I am so glad that all of you have faith in government hospitals.
Earlier people used to presume that government hospitals would not be good enough. All the Mohalla clinics are in very good condition and are well-maintained” he said.
Kamal a resident of Chirag Enclave had brought her grandson along with her who was suffering from a flu. She said, “This is my first time in a Mohalla Clinic and I am very happy to see it is in such a fine condition. I have brought my grandson because he has fallen sick.”
Batra who was visiting for a blood test said, “I am happy to see that the facility is so good and clean.
But this is new so it is looking so nice. I hope the government will ensure it remains like this.” CM Kejriwal assured her that the government was maintaining clinics well for the last few years and that he is personally monitoring the upkeep and operations.
CM Kejriwal proceeded to meet the doctor and the pharmacist and enquired about their experiences. Dr Regina took a reading of CM Kejriwal’s blood pressure and informed him it was perfectly normal. He thanked her and congratulated her for her service to the society.
People who can afford private treatments are visiting mohalla clinics, this shows the trust of people in us: CM Arvind Kejriwal
CM Kejriwal tweeted, “When those who can afford expensive private hospitals start using government services as a matter of choice, it’s the biggest certificate of quality. At a posh GK colony, I found upper-middle-class residents using a Mohalla Clinic.
They’re very very satisfied. Could you have imagined this few years ago?”
He said, “Never before have upper middle class residents put their faith in a government service like a Mohalla Clinic.
I am so happy that Delhi’s government health system is now at par with private health systems, just like how our government schools are becoming better than private schools.”
Speaking to residents Rajeev Kakariya, of GK I E Block, Wing Commander Sharma of GK I Enclave and Mr Sandeep from Pamposh Enclave, CM Kejriwal said “I had visited Greater Kailash around one and a half years ago.
I was surprised when you had requested me to open a Mohalla Clinic in your area. I can see that people from upper middle class families are also visiting the clinic.
We have RWA secretaries of Pamposh and GK Enclaves with us. These are people who would go to private hospitals like Fortis and Max, but even they are visiting a government dispensary such as a Mohalla Clinic for their treatment.”
