New Delhi:EROS TIMES: January 8, 2020 Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Subhash Chopra and senior leader and chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma blamed the Aam Aadmi Party Government in Delhi for completely ruining the health sector in Delhi, which was evident from just one data, that from 2014 to 29-10-2019, nearly 7,809 people had died at the Dilshad Garden Cancer Institute in the last five years due to the negligence of the Government.
Subhash Chopra and Mukesh Sharma said that the Kejriwal Government has broken the backbone of health services in Delhi as AAP’s attitude has been “let the common people depend on Mohalla Clinics, but the Sahibs will go to private hospitals for specialized treatment”.
Chopra and Sharma said that world over, new drugs are being marketed for preventing deaths due to cancer.
As a result, cancer-related deaths have come down, but exactly the opposite has happened in a Delhi Government cancer hospital at Dilshad Garden.
Addressing a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, Mukesh Sharma explained that out of the sanctioned strength of 283 doctors, only 187 posts have been filled while out of the sanctioned strength of 820 para-medical staff, only 493 posts have been filled, that too when Congress was in power. Sharma noted that this deliberate neglect by the Kejriwal Government should be treated as a criminal offence, and cases should be registered for this negligence.
He said that at the Janakpuri Super Specialty Hospital, no facility is available except referring patients.
He said that during the Congress rule, 25 new blood banks had been opened, but the AAP Government has not opened a single new blood bank in the last five years.
Exposing the duplicity and falsehood of the Kejriwal Government in the health services sector in Delhi, Mukesh Sharma said that during the past five years, 46 per cent of Delhi Government’s health budget remained unspent.
He said that in the current financial year, out of the allotted budget of Rs 3737 crore, only Rs 259.73 crore were spent till September, 2019.
Mukesh Sharma said that when Congress was in power, 5 new specialty and 2 new Super Specialty hospitals were constructed in Delhi but the Kejriwal Government has not constructed even one new hospital in the past five years.
He said that during the Congress regime, lands were acquired from DDA and other Government agencies for constructing 21 new hospitals, out of which foundation stone were laid for 14 hospitals by the Sheila Dikshit Government.
He said that the Kejriwal Government had decided to construct five new hospitals, but these have remained only on paper. He said that the Congress Government had added 20348 new beds in Government hospitals, while the Kejriwal Government could increase only 3,093 beds.
Sharma said that there are 265 CAT ambulances in Delhi out of which 110 ambulances do not have even basic facilities, while 45 ambulances are only on paper, and not on the roads.
Mukesh Sharma accused the Kejriwal Government of totally messing up the health sector. He said that the Kejriwal Government, which takes undue credit for setting up Mohalla Clinics, have ruined 602 Government dispensaries. He said that nearly 100 Mohalla Clinics are virtually non-functional, which is a very big scandal and should be probed. Sharma said that four operation theatres in the Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan Hospital have been shut due to shortage of equipment while 17 per cent operation theatres in various Government hospitals are lying unused due to lack of facilities, about which the Kejriwal Government seems to be least bothered.
Shri Mukesh Sharma said that a 500-bed Government Medical College and Hospital at Dwarka has been constructed but has not been made functional yet. He said that the Congress Government had added 4900 new medical seats while the AAP Government has not added even a single seat in the last five years as no new college has been opened.
Shri Mukesh Sharma asked Kejriwal that if the Government hospitals in Delhi are that good, then why did he spend Rs 12,80,271 of public money for the treatment of his cough in private hospitals outside Delhi? Why did Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia spent Rs 13,21,329 for his treatment and Minister Gopal Rai over Rs 7 lakh for his treatment?, asked Sharma.
Sharma asked why the Choudhary Brahm Prakash Naturopathy Hospital at Khera Dabar in Najafgarh, constructed by the Congress Government, was not used for the treatment of Kejriwal’s cough? He demanded the resignation of the Delhi Health Minister owning up moral responsibility for ruining health services in the Capital.
